Open Question: Issues with my country of origin and language?

Not long ago I was on here asking how to properly install my mail default browser. In one stage of that process, I was to click on my country. I am U.S. citizen, living in Colombia. I wanted all programs in english and not spanish. I was selecting U.S. but apparently clicked U.K. by mistake. Everything is in english but are very annoying moments as well. Was just on travelocity searching airline flights and the prices were shown in pounds instead of dollars. Also, when I type in Google, it comes up in Spanish. I found the tab at bottom of page to change to english but is annoying to do everytime. Also searches come up in spanish and english. I can google (jobs in mexico) and I will get web sites in spanish and not english. I would like my computer to know we are American / not UK and all searches in english.
